UIX: User Interface and experience. Development team Document

Status: Live document: Published for comment/development

This document focuses on the design of the user interface, including wire-frames, mock-ups, and details on how users will interact with the system.

The work relating the UI has been started, partly in the document ‘Design for Social learning’, and in part by beginning a (Figma) wire frame/mock up.

There is an early requirement for graphics in the ‘wire-frame’, primarily because the idea (power and excitement), behind the app is unfamiliar.

I have held off completing the simple wire-frame (clicking from box to box) until the processes could be at least represented by a static graphic (ideally an active graphic) – for example like the VOSViewer panel on the website.

The next step in UIX design is a discussion centered on evolving the mock-up of the VOSViewer Value Prospecting diagram. Features that cannot be represented and features that are compromised in the mock up will be listed and a custom approach outlined. This is with a view to customising a Node/Edge diagram to represent Value and Prospect relations in the App main / landing page. So I expect to produce a document explaining the demonstration Value Prospecting diagram and listing differences and possible features of a customised version more suitable to the Value Prospecting use cases.

Process 1 Registering Values (Personal Value Profile Entry part)

– we can also debate and discourse on Values themselves as a stand alone activity – but each user as part of proper onboarding needs to be given teh option to catpture detail demographic and Value preferences…

This is only a starting point for discussion – Heres one of the four main processes (Input Values in the the User profile) – envisaged as a coourful, process with pictures and sounds (as an example) – we also need registering Prospects, and Impact assessments. Oddly as I am envisioning this it seems that linkage to Prospects is an organic part of defining values and likely also Vice Versa. So what we have included in teh registration is in fact a streamlined version of teh Impact assesment – all three proocesses sharing techniques and apperances (I imagine) even if they do not actually sue the same Interface (because of different emphasis).

To get here – User could right click on Main page Value area and selects Values (default if on open space) which pops up the above value wheel – They can and should enter something for each value-segment – this should be automated if first time editing. Ideally they can define new (folksonomy) – right clock a specific parent value and choose to enter a self defined (new) child value. (we will later in more sophisticated versions convert those that are prospects and designate personal or social in category). First time Users move clockwise automatically  to initialise each segment. On each segment a picture with sound or video runs in background to cues the user in communication patterns (the display cycles through the most popular sight and sound selected by other users – this user gets to define their own favourite if they wish. Scores are normalised behind the scenes – retaining their actual scores (for editing if they revisit) and the normalised scores. We’re going to need more info than just that – general demographic (like ESS) but that can be asked during registration (if they trust us) We already know the relative importance of the values,  what % of time the user spends on each segment (self reported) , what % of their money is spent on that value. Give examples of Prospects they align with the value (if they say a bit about themselves AI might find for them.
